AUSTIN, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team concludes its fall schedule Nov. 2-3 at the Challenge at Onion Creek which will be held at the par-70, 5,938-yard Onion Creek Club North Course.
The 54-hole tournament will begin Monday at 7:30 a.m. CST with 36 holes, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. CST. Live scoring for each round will be available online at www.GolfStat.com. In addition to Baylor and host Texas State, the 21-team field includes Augusta State, Boise State, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, San Francisco, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, UALR, UTSA, Washington State and Wisconsin.
For the fourth consecutive tournament, Baylor's lineup includes senior Hannah Burke, Lene Hafsten-Morch, Morgan Chambers, Chelsey Cothran and Jaclyn Jansen. Burke leads all Lady Bears with a 73.00 stroke average through 10 rounds. The senior has finished in the top 15 in three of the Lady Bears' four tournaments.
"We are looking forward to our last tournament of the fall at a great venue like Onion Creek," Baylor head women's golf coach Sylvia Ferdon said. "I am eager to get our team there to start play.
"We really have not fired on all cylinders this fall as a team. We have individually, but not as a team. I want everyone to get into their own game. If they trust what they do and take care of their own game, we will be competitive."
Last time out, rain cancelled the first two rounds of the Alamo Invitational last week in San Antonio. The Lady Bears shot 16-over 304 to finish tied for seventh at the rain-shortened event. Jansen and Cothran posted Baylor's best individual performances as both finished tied for 13th at 2-over 74.
The Baylor women's golf team will open its spring schedule Feb. 7-9, 2010, at the Purdue-hosted Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, P.R.
