Courtney Saunders' goal in double overtime lifted
Baylor to a 2-1 Big 12 soccer win over Iowa State
in Ames Friday.
Saunders scored in the 116th minute to give new
head coach Nick Cowell his first win at Baylor in
his first game.
The No. 17 Bears got on the board first when
Alyson Miles scored off Saunders assist at the
44:53 mark, just seven seconds before halftime.
Baylor led most of the second half, but Iowa State
answered Miles' goal at the 78:51 mark as Lindsey
Rector scored unassisted.
The defending Big 12 champion Bears just edged the
Cyclones in shots on goal, 16-15. ISU goalkeeper
Lynley Hilligoss notched 14 saves while BU's Dawn
Greathouse, coming back from a season-ending knee
injury, recorded eight.
The Cyclones' Erica Florez took five shots on goal
while Baylor's Saunders and Miles took four
apiece.
The Bears, 1-0, take on No. 8 Nebraska in Lincoln
Sunday.
