FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Megan Fawley's goal in the 86th minute propelled Arkansas to a 1-0 victory over Baylor in an exhibition match played at Lady `Back Field on Saturday. The match was the lone exhibition game for the Bears this season as Baylor opens regular season play against Houston on Friday, Aug. 26, at 7:00 p.m.
After a scoreless first half, the game looked as if it was heading into overtime. However, in the 86th minute, Christina Burger fed Fawley with a cross through the box that Fawley was able to put past Baylor goalie Ashley Holder from six yards out to give Arkansas a 1-0 lead. The Bears were unable to score in the final four minutes as Arkansas claimed the 1-0 win.
For the contest, Arkansas out-shot Baylor 9-6 and held a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal. Baylor's Jennifer Martin and Tiffany Boshers led the Bears attacking, recording two shots each during the contest.
Holder made four saves for Baylor in goal during the loss while Carrie Dillsaver recorded one save and was credited with the shutout in the Arkansas victory.
Baylor will open the regular season on Friday, Aug. 26, when the Bears host Houston at 7:00 p.m. at Betty Lou Mays Field. The two teams faced each other last season in an exhibition match, with Baylor claiming a 6-1 victory,
