WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Jessica Okoroafo's two goals lifted No. 21 Purdue to a 2-0 victory over the Baylor soccer team in action on Sunday. With the loss, Baylor falls to 1-2-1 on the season while Purdue improves to 3-1-1 on the year.
The game remained scoreless until the 41st minute when Okoroafo took a pass from Loredana Riverso and chipped it in from six yards out to give Purdue the lead just before halftime.
Purdue quickly extended the lead in the second half as Okoroafo scored off a pass from Jill Sarbaugh in the 50th minute as the Boilermakers grabbed control of the game with a 2-0 lead.
Baylor was unable to rally the rest of the way as Lauren Mason recorded two saves to post the shutout victory for Purdue.
Ashley Holder played well in the net for Baylor in the loss as the junior made eight saves, her highest total of the season.
Purdue held a 29-5 advantage in shots and a 6-1 edge in corner kicks as the Boilermakers captured the first ever meeting between the two schools.
Freshman Amanda McGrath led the way for Baylor in the loss, posting two shots and one shot on goal.
Baylor will return to action on Friday, Sept. 8, when the Bears travel to face defending national champion Portland at 9:00 p.m. in the Pilots home opener.
