PORTLAND, Ore. -- Megan Rapinoe's three goals powered No. 6 Portland to a 5-0 victory over the Baylor soccer team in action at the Portland Nike Invitational. With the loss, Baylor falls to 1-3-1 on the season as Portland improves to 3-1-1 with the victory.
The Pilots would jump out to an early lead as Rapinoe took a free kick from Angie Woznuk and scored from four yards out in the fourth minute to give the Pilots a 1-0 lead.
The duo would connect again in the 12th minute as Rapinoe collected a Woznuk through ball and scored from 12 yards out to give the Pilots the two-goal advantage.
Rapinoe put the finishing touches on the half as she connected on a 28-yard blast with only 32 seconds left to record the hat trick and give Portland a 3-0 lead heading into the break.
Michelle Enyeart added a pair of goals in the second half, scoring in the 84th and 89th minute, as the Pilots claimed a 5-0 victory.
For the contest, Portland outshot Baylor, 23-3, as Ashley Holder took the loss in goal for Baylor, making seven saves on the night.
Cory Alexander and Ruth Gilliam earned the combined shutout in goal for the Pilots.
Baylor will close out play at the Portland Nike Invitational when the Bears take on Washington, a 4-0 loser to No. 5 North Carolina earlier in the evening, on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 2:00 p.m.
