AUSTIN, Texas - Despite outshooting Texas 10-8, a first-half goal from Kylie Doniak gave the Longhorns (8-3-3, 1-2-2) a 1-0 win over Baylor (9-5-1, 2-4) Sunday night at Myers Soccer Stadium.
It marked the second time this season the Bears have lost despite taking more shots than their opponent. BU held a 13-9 advantage in a 2-1 loss at Oklahoma State on Sept. 24.
Texas took a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute as Doniak sent a long cross in to the box that took an odd bounce and found the back of the net.
The Longhorns nearly took a two-goal lead in the 13th minute, when a foul on Baylor was called inside the box, however, Seelhorst came up with a huge save on the penalty kick by Doniak.
After being outshot 7-2 in the first half, Baylor came out firing in the second and held an 8-1 advantage, but was unable to convert one to a goal.
Baylor almost tied the game in the 74th minute, as a cross found the head of Alex Klein, but Alexa Gaul made the save to keep the Bears out of the net.
In the 81st minute, Karlee Summey took a corner kick and sent an in-swinging ball that caused Gaul to leap towards the goal and punch it to safety, inches before crossing the goal line.
Klein and fellow freshman Vic Hoffman led the Bears with two shots apiece.
Baylor will return home for a non-conference game against Seattle on Friday, Oct. 15 at 7:00 p.m.
