The Baylor soccer team (5-7-2, 1-3-1) was unsuccessful knocking off No. 22 Colorado (11-2-2, 5-1-1) as the Bears fell 4-0 to the Buffaloes at Prentup Field on Sunday.
Colorado took a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute after a goal by Gianna DeSaverio gave the Buffs an early advantage. Despite facing 19 shots in the opening half, the Bears went into the break down by just one, behind six saves from Gianna Quintana.
The Buffaloes added a second goal in the 52nd minute, as a shot by Kelly Butler was saved by Courtney Seelhorst, but Butler was there for the rebound, giving CU a 2-0 lead.
Colorado added to its lead in the 59th minute with a goal off a free kick by Kelly Menachof from 18 yards out. Menachof finished up the Buffaloes scoring with her second goal of the game in the 63rd minute, giving Colorado its 4-0 advantage.
The Bears managed an offensive flurry in the final five minutes, with four shots and two corner kicks, as Baylor’s best chance came on a shot by Lindsey Johnson that was blocked a Colorado defender.
Baylor will return home for its final two home games of the season, as the Bears host Oklahoma State on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. and then take on Oklahoma on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
