The Baylor soccer team (5-8-2, 1-4-1) fell behind by two goals at the break and could not recover, falling to No. 11 Oklahoma State (13-1-1, 4-1-1) 5-0 on Friday night at Betty Lou Mays Field.
“We made some mistakes and you can’t do that against the 11th ranked team,” head coach Marci Jobson said. “We just have to press on and forward.”
The game was scoreless until the 25th minute, when the Cowgirls’ Allyson Leggett received a pass from Jamie Markaverich and blasted it from eight yard out for the 1-0 lead.
The Bears looked to keep the deficit at one heading into the break, but OSU’s Kasey Langdon got a breakaway and snuck it by Gianna Quintana in the 43rd minute for a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Baylor was unable to capitalize in the second half, and Oklahoma State added goals in the 70th, 72nd and 76th minutes to pull away for the 5-0 win
“Sunday will be exciting because we are playing for our seniors,” Jobson said. “This team will bounce back and be ready.”
Baylor will play its final home game of the season as it takes on Oklahoma on Sunday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day. The Bears will honor Andi Fagan, Carolyn Lynch, Amanda McGrath and Elena Sutherland in a ceremony prior to the game. Sunday is Church Bulletin Day, as any person who brings a church bulletin will receive $2 admission.
