WACO, Texas - The Bears out shot Missouri and controlled the ball for much of the game, but ended up not being enough as the Bears dropped their ninth game on the season Friday at Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field.
Coming into the game, the Bears and Tigers were tied for eighth in conference play. The win boosted the Tigers past the Bears, into sole possession of seventh place.
Baylor (6-9-1, 1-6-1 Big 12) got on the board early in the second minute when junior forward Ginny Rosario-Tull knocked in a shot past Missouri goalkeeper Megan Duncan giving the Bears an early 1-0 advantage. Rosario-Tull received a pass from teammate Kristen Ruef from 10 yards out and knocked in the shot over Duncan's head. It was Rosario-Tull's ninth goal of the season, her first since scoring against TCU on Sept. 14, ten games ago.
Missouri (8-8-1, 2-5-1 Big 12) quickly scored the equalizer when junior forward Kristen Heil beat Baylor goalkeeper Monica Housden knotting the score at one. Sophomore forward Jennifer Nobis placed the ball nicely on Heil's foot, who then placed the ball in the bottom left corner of the net in the 27th minute.
Heil wasn't done with her scoring campaign, scoring her second goal of the night in the 55th minute. Heil dribbled the ball all the way from 30 yards out and beat Housden when she fired a shot into the left side of the net. It was Heil's eighth goal of the season, a goal which proved to be enough to beat the Bears.
Defensively, Housden recorded one save on the night, raising her save total on the season to 72. For the Tigers, Duncan was tested far more recording, seven saves on the night, all of which came in the second half.
Bears will continue action on Sunday as they host the Iowa State Cyclones. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field.
