Lubbock, Texas-Margaret Kaderli's overtime goal lifted the Baylor soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Texas Tech in the season finale for both squads. With the win, Baylor finishes the season with a record of 7-9-2, 3-6-1 in the Big 12 Conference as Texas Tech closes out the year 3-16-0 and finishes winless in the Big 12 at 0-10-0.
"I was pleased we were able to send the seniors out with a win," head coach George Van Linder said. "The team rebounded from a difficult loss to Missouri and finished the season strong."
Kaderli provided the game winner when her 30-yard blast found the upper right-hand portion of the net with five minutes left as Baylor grabbed the victory.
Texas Tech grabbed the early 1-0 lead with a goal late in the first half. Ashley Reed struck a low shot past the Baylor goalie in the 41st minute as the Red Raiders took the lead into halftime.
Kandyce Farr tied the game for Baylor just 2:53 into the second half as she scored in the 48th minute to tie the game for the Bears. The goal was Farr's first of the season.
Baylor's Tiffany Boshers gave the Bears the lead with a blast past the Texas Tech goalkeeper in the 77th minute to make the score 2-1. The goal was Boshers' ninth of the season and the seventh in conference play as she finished the year with the team lead.
Texas Tech managed to tie the game late; however, as Lauren Laffert connected on a penalty kick in the 81st minute.
Ashley Holder recorded the win and made five saves on the night for Baylor.
The game marked the final contest in a Baylor uniform for five Bear seniors as Katie Chicoine, April Robertson, Ginny Rosario-Tull, Kristin Ruef and Lori Viggiano closed out their careers in the victory.
