WACO, Texas - Baylor recently completed its spring schedule with the results co-head coaches Marci and Paul Jobsonwere looking for. Coming off a Big 12 Championship title campaign last fall, the Bears took solid strides in developing the 2013 team for the fall season.

With six letterwinners gone (top three in points) from the 2012 squad that earned the program's first Big 12 Championship crown, posted the best record in program history (19-1-5), advanced deeper in the NCAA Championship (third round) than any other BU team and ended ranked 11th nationally, the first step in developing the 2013 team was playing stout opponents during spring competition.

Baylor strongly competed with a Texas A&M team that finished 2012 ranked 14th and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16, a North Texas team that won 2012 Sun Belt Conference regular season and tournament titles, an Oklahoma team that won three of its final four 2012 regular season matches, an SMU team that went 7-2-2 over its last 10 matches last season, and a Texas Tech team that set a school record with 16 wins in 2012 and earned its first-ever bid to the NCAA Tournament.

"We had a great spring," said co-head coach Paul Jobson. "The goal is to continue to grow as a new team, and we did that. We continued to develop some young players and get them some experience against some really good competition. This type of spring schedule will help us in preparation for the fall."

Baylor concluded its spring slate with the Legacy Alumni Event, which was a resounding success. The program had over 25 alumni and their families back at Betty Lou Mays Field, along with current players and their families and the program's Oso United members. During the event, Baylor unveiled the new Legacy Alumni Wall, presented its Big 12 championship rings to the 2012 team and hosted an alumni match.

"It was a great day and a great opportunity to show our appreciation for our alumni and the legacy they started here at Baylor," said Jobson.

Baylor returns 24 players from the historic 2012 team and will have seven newcomers to the program.
