The Baylor soccer team held its first practice of 2011 on Wednesday night at Betty Lou Mays Field, to rave reviews from head coach Marci Jobson.
"I am so proud of the physical condition these kids came in," Jobson said. "We had every player pass the conditioning test on the first try for the first time, and I think that speaks volumes."
The Bears took to the field during the evening for a 50-minute scrimmage to get adjusted and familiar with each other, and Jobson liked what she saw.
"We have a lot of freshman and newcomers out there and I liked their work ethic," Jobson said. "You can't expect much on the first day, but I was pleased with their effort."
Baylor returns 21 players, eight starters and 88 percent of its scoring off the 2010 squad that went 11-7-2. The Bears will also welcome eight newcomers.
Fans can get a look at the 2011 team on Saturday, Aug. 6 with its first annual Meet the Team Scrimmage with free food and drinks being served at 6:00 p.m. followed by a scrimmage at 7:00 p.m.
