Waco, Texas -- With the opening of the 2004 season only two-and-a-half weeks away, the Baylor University soccer team has reported to campus and will participate in their its scheduled practice at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11.
The preseason practices, along with two exhibition games, will lead up to the Bears season opener against highly-regarded Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27, in South Bend, Ind.
"We are extremely excited about the start of the 2004 season," head coach George Van Linder said. "We have a great combination of returning players and talented newcomers that will give us the opportunity to be a force in the Big 12 Conference this season."
The Bears return 13 letter-winners from last year's 7-9-2 squad, including leading point-scorer and senior forward Ginny Rosario-Tull. In addition, the Bears return Tiffany Boshers, a junior defender who earned all-Big 12 Conference honors last season.
Baylor also welcomes 16 newcomers to the program this season, including transfers Anna Schuch (St. Louis), Jennifer Martin (SMU) and Kristin Weegar (Tulane).
Along with scheduled practices, a pair of exhibition games will help prepare the team for the upcoming season. Baylor opens exhibition play against Arkansas at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, at Betty Lou Mays Field before traveling to Houston, , to take on Houston at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21.
After a visit to Notre Dame to open the season, the Bears will return home for the regular-season home-opener against Rice on Tuesday, Aug. 31, at 7:00 p.m.

Season ticket prices, a package of nine home contests, are $30 for adults and youth and $25 for seniors. Single-game prices are set at $5 for adults and $3 for youth.
