Waco, Texas -- The 2004 version of the Baylor soccer team will take the field for the first time this season as the Bears will host Arkansas in a pre-season exhibition match on Wednesday, August 18, at 7:00 p.m. Admission to the exhibition match against the Lady Razorbacks is free.

"The exhibition will give us a good idea of where we stand after our first series of practices," head coach George Van Linder said. "So far, the team has done a great job in preparing for the upcoming year. Playing Arkansas is a great opportunity for us to face solid competition before the start of the regular season."

The Bears return 13 letter-winners from last year's 7-9-2 squad, including leading point-scorer and senior forward Ginny Rosario-Tull. In addition, the Bears return Tiffany Boshers, a junior midfielder who earned all-Big 12 Conference honors last season.

Baylor also welcomes 16 newcomers to the program this year, including transfers Anna Schuch (St. Louis), Jennifer Martin (SMU) and Kristin Weegar (Tulane).

Arkansas, out of the Southeastern Conference, finished last season with a record of 7-10-2, ending the year with a 1-0 loss against Big 12 Conference Tournament champion Oklahoma State.

The Bears will conclude the exhibition portion of the schedule when they travel to Houston, Texas, to take on Houston at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 21. The Bears will then open the regular-season at highly-regarded Notre Dame on Friday, August 27.

After the visit to Notre Dame, the Bears will return home for the regular-season home-opener against Rice on Tuesday, August 31, at 7:00 p.m.

Fans interested in purchasing 2004 Baylor soccer single-game or season tickets can contact the Baylor Ticket Office at 710-1000 or 1-800-BAYLOR-U. Season ticket prices, a package of nine home contests, are $30 for adults and youth and $25 for seniors. Single-game prices are set at $5 for adults and $3 for youth.
