The Baylor soccer team (3-0-1) will hit the road for a pair of games at the Courtyard by Marriott Airport Cardinal Classic, hosted by Louisville. The Bears will face the host, Louisville (1-1-1) Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT and take on Kentucky (3-0-0) Sunday at 11:30 a.m. CT.
"These are going to be two games that really prepare us for conference play," head coach Marci Jobson said. "We are learning more and more about this team, and this weekend will give us a great measuring stick as to where we are."
Baylor is coming off a weekend sweep, defeating Cal State Northridge (1-0) and UTSA (5-1). The Bears are undefeated after the first four games for the second time in three years, after notching a 2-0-2 mark in 2009. They have three wins in the first four for the second consecutive season.
Offensively, BU is led by freshman Alexa Wilde and junior Dana Larsen's three goals each, while sophomore Karlee Summey and freshman Justine Hovden have a goal and two assists. In goal, senior Courtney Seelhorst has two shutouts and a 0.47 goals against average.
Louisville enters the contest averaging 2.33 goals per game, and is led by Angelika Uremovich's two goals and one assist. After opening the season with a 5-0 win at Eastern Kentucky, the Cardinals have tied Toledo 1-1 and fell to No. 19 Illinois, 2-1.
The weekend's matches will mark the first time in program history that Baylor has met Louisville or Kentucky.
