WACO, Texas - Baylor soccer senior midfielder Kat Ludlow was named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII Second Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday.
Ludlow earned the honor for the first time in her career as she has tied a career-high with three goals in 2013, including her first two career game-winners. A starter in all 17 of BU's games thus far, Ludlow scored in the season-opener against UTSA on Aug. 23, added an assist two days later against Northwestern State, and scored game-winners versus Cal Poly on Sept. 13 and Boise State on Sept. 22.
Ludlow's recognition from CoSIDA gives Baylor its second four-year run with at least one honoree each year (2001-04, 2010-13). Overall, she is the 14th player in program history to garner the award as Baylor has had 23 honorees (includes players honored multiple times), and 14 since 2010.
A pre-physical therapy major with a 3.74 GPA, Ludlow Ranks in Baylor's career top 30 in assists (7), points (21) and goals (7). She was a 2013 Preseason All-Big 12 choice as well as one of 30 candidates in Division I soccer for the Senior CLASS Award - the program's first-ever candidate.
The Colleyville, Texas, native is a Dean's List student at Baylor who has been on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll each semester and was a First-Team Academic All-Big 12 selection in 2011 and 2012. Also in 2012, Ludlow was a Big 12 All-Tournament choice, Second-Team NSCAA All-Central Region choice and Second-Team All-Big 12 selection.
