Soccer Lands 12 Student-Athletes on Academic All-Big 12 Team

IRVING, Texas - Twelve members of the Baylor soccer team were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team, including nine on the first team, the Big 12 Conference announced Tuesday.

Baylor's 12 student-athletes were the second most by any school, just two behind Nebraska, and tied the program record that was set in 2007.

Beckah Brady, Megan Humke, Lindsey Johnson, Betsy Kyle, Lucy Quintana, Gianna Quintana, Courtney Seelhorst, Elena Sutherland and Katie White earned first team honors while Lotto Smith, Andi Fagan and Allie Moran were named to the second team.

Fagan (Sr., graphic design) picked up their third consecutive all-conference honor.

Brady (Jr., applied mathematics), Humke (Jr., communication science disorders), Kyle (Jr., health science studies) and White (Jr., accounting) each earned their second selections to the academic all-conference squad.

Johnson (So., business), Lucy Quintana (So., health science studies), Gianna Quintana (Jr., health science studies), Seelhorst (RFr., health science studies) and Sutherland (Sr., biology) each earned their first selection to the academic team.

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the soccer academic all- league squad consisted of 79 first team members combined with 15 on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

 

 

To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
