Fresh off its first NCAA win in school history, the Baylor soccer team (15-3-3) will face No. 18 North Carolina (12-5-1) in the NCAA Championship second round Friday at 3:30 p.m. CT at James G. Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.

“This is obviously a new experience for this program, but an exciting one,” head coach Marci Jobson said. “North Carolina is a storied program and we know that we need to be clicking on all cylinders this time of the year.”
The Bears earned their way to the second round by defeating Texas State 3-0 on Nov. 12 in Waco. The third overall appearance in the NCAA’s, Baylor is 1-2 all-time in the NCAA Championship and 0-1 on the road.
BU has scored eight goals in its last three matches, with Lisa Sliwinski scoring four. The junior is second on the team with nine goals on the year, behind Dana Larsen’s 11. The Bears’ defense has surrendered just 13 on the season, currently a program best behind last season’s mark of 16.
The Tar Heels enter after a 4-1 home win over William & Mary on Nov. 12. UNC has won 21 National titles and holds a 109-8-1 mark in NCAA Championship play.
Baylor and North Carolina have met just once, with the Tar Heels winning 5-0 on Sept. 27, 1998 in Chapel Hill.
The winner of the Baylor/North Carolina game will play the winner of Florida and Central Florida on Sunday at Noon CT.
