CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -
The 11th-ranked and third-seeded Baylor soccer team will try to notch another program first when BU faces No. 13 North Carolina on Sunday at noon (CT) at Fetzer Field in the third round of the NCAA Championship.
The Bears (19-1-4), who are unbeaten in their last 20 matches, will be playing the Tar Heels (12-5-2) for the right to advance to the NCAA Championship quarterfinals.
Baylor has already won more postseason games than any other BU squad, while also claiming the first Big 12 Championship title in program history. To get to this point, Baylor squeaked past No. 14 Georgetown, 2-1, in overtime on Friday.
UNC, who is one of four No. 2 seeds in the event, has appeared in the third round of 31 consecutive NCAA Championships. The Tar Heels cruised past Illinois, 9-2 on Friday to setup up the match with the Bears.
The contest will have a video stream on GoHeels.com with an audio broadcast by WCHL FM/AM. GoHeels.com will also provide live stats via GameTracker. In-game updates will be available @BaylorFutbol on Twitter.
Baylor and North Carolina met exactly one year ago on Sunday as the Tar Heels shutout BU, 5-0, in the NCAA Championship second round in Gainesville, Fla.
BU is 0-2 all-time vs. the Tar Heels and 3-3-0 in NCAA Championship play.
