Dana Larsen

Dec. 5, 2012

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Baylor soccer team led the Big 12 Conference with four players named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Central Region Team recently.

Forward Dana Larsen (first team), defender Kat Ludlow (second team), midfielder Lisa Sliwinski (second team) and defender Carlie Davis (third team) made up the group of Bears honored.

The four selections match the most in program history for a single season. Four Bears were also recognized in 1998. Marci Jobson has now coached five all-region players in her five years as head coach, including this year's quartet and last season's honoree, Staz Salinas.

Larsen becomes the first BU player to earn first-team accolades since Courtney Saunders in 1999. The senior is just one of four players in program history to be honored with a first-team selection as she joins Saunders (1998-99), Dawn Greathouse (1998) and Nikki Hales (1998).

Larsen led the Bears with 11 goals, nine assists and 31 points on the season. She provided five game-winning goals, including a golden goal in overtime to knock off Georgetown in the second round of the NCAA Championship.

Ludlow started all 25 games for Baylor and was part of a defense that posted the third-best goals against average in the nation at .529. She also tallied three goals and three assists, while serving as one of the top ball-winners on the team and the squad's throw-in specialist.

Sliwinski finished second on the team with 10 goals, five assists and 25 points. She scored nine goals over the last 15 games of the season, including Baylor's lone goal in its tie with eventual national champion North Carolina.

Davis started in all 25 games with the task of marking the opposing team's best offensive player. With her help, the Baylor defense allowed the fewest shots, goals, assists and points in program history. BU also recorded its most shutouts (13) in a single season.

The four players helped Baylor record the best record in program history at 19-1-5 and advance to the third round of the NCAA Championship. BU was the lone program in the country with only one loss. The Bears finished the season ranked No. 11 in the country, the highest end-of-the-year rank in program history.
