Baylor senior defender Staz Salinas was named to the 2011 NSCAA All-Central Region second team the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced Thursday.
Salinas was the staple of a Baylor back line that allowed its four lowest goals against totals during her four seasons in green and gold. This past season, the Austin, Texas, native played and started in 21 games for the Bears, who advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1999 and won their first NCAA match in program history. In addition, Salinas is tied for ninth in most career games played and eighth in career starts.
The NSCAA All-Region award is the first for Baylor since 2000 when a trio of Bears were named to the squad.
