The No. 10 Baylor softball team (14-4) fell behind and couldnt mount enough of a comeback, falling to No. 14 UCLA (13-5) 10-6 and Illinois State (9-10) 6-4 on day two of the 2012 Citrus Classic.

"Sometimes breaks don't go your way," head coach Glenn Moore said. "It can be frustrating when you beat yourself, but we won't hang our heads. This team has too much resolve and we will fight hard tomorrow."

Game One
No. 14 UCLA 10, No. 10 Baylor 6

Baylor jumped out to a two-run lead, but UCLA scored nine in the first two innings to knock off the Lady Bears, 10-6. Shelbi Redfearn went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Megan Turk and Clare Hosack each added a home run for the Lady Bears.

Kathy Shelton led off the game with a nine-pitch at-bat and stole second with one out. Clare Hosack then laced her a two-run blast over left field for her second home run of the year and a 2-0 lead.

The Bruins put four runs up in its half of the first, with a one-out RBI-single and a triple from Samantha Camuso that plated two more and a bad relay from second to third allowed her to cross home for the 4-2 advantage.

The Lady Bears answered back in the second, with Sydney Wilson drawing a two-out walk and advancing to third on a single to right from Shelton. With runners at first and third, a double a steal brought Wilson home safely to make it 4-3.

A three-run home run from Stephany LaRosa, RBI-triple and sac squeeze plated five runs for the Bruins in the second, giving UCLA a commanding 9-3 lead.

BU began to cut into the lead with an inning-opening solo shot from Turk, and a double down the right field line from Redfearn that scored Delaney Guy to make the deficit 9-5 in the fifth.

Down 10-5 heading into the top of the seventh, Redfearn added her second RBI of the game with a single to shallow right center that scored Guy for the 10-6 score.

Courtney Repka (6-1) took the loss, lasting 0.2 innings, giving up four hits and four runs. Liz Paul came on in the first and worked 5.1 innings, allowing seven hits, six runs, four earned and two walks.

Game Two
Illinois State 6, No. 10 Baylor 4

Despite a four-run fifth, six unearned runs after a costly error in the fourth gave Illinois State a 6-4 win over Baylor in game two.

Kathy Shelton led the way with a pair of hits and RBI, while Kelsi Kettler added a pair of RBI in the loss.

Repka (6-2) picked up the loss, allowing six unearned runs, six hits and one walk while striking out three in 5.0 innings. Paul came on in relief, giving up just one hit in 2.0 innings.

The game was scoreless until the fourth when the Redbirds tallied six unearned runs, all with two outs. With two outs and the bases loaded, Lindsey Greene hit a grounder to second that was bobbled by Guy, allowing a run to cross. Kolby Hoffman then hit a short pop up that landed between Repka and Kettler for a base hit and two-run lead. Jhavon Hamilton then belted a grand slam to right field for the 6-0 advantage.

Baylor came storming back in the fifth with four runs on four hits. Holl drew a one-out walk and reached on an error at second that allowed Guy to reach first. Jordan Strickland began a string of four-straight singles to load the bases, and Kettler's two-RBI single, followed by RBI-singles from Redfearn and Shelton cut the ISU lead to two. Baylor would muster just one hit the rest of the way, falling 6-4.

The Lady Bears will be back in action on Sunday morning, taking on Syracuse at 8:00 am CT.
