SAN ANTONIO, Texas -

The Baylor Lady Bears (13-3 overall) used an outstanding relief performance by Brittany Turner to get by UTSA (8-9 overall) on Tuesday at Roadrunner Field in San Antonio. With the win, Baylor has won six-straight.

The Lady Bears got on the board first in the top of the third as Brette Reagan drew a two out walk, and Meagan Weldon reached first on an error by the first baseman. Jordan Daniels followed with a walk of her own to load the bases, and Reagan came home when the Roadrunner pitcher threw a wild pitch.

UTSA answered in the bottom of the fourth as Krista Sitka hit a home run over the left field fence to tie the game at one apiece. Kirsten Shortridge then walked the next three batters and gave way to Brittany Turner. Whitney Balch got caught in a rundown at third, and with one down, Turner mowed down the next two batters to get out of the inning without any further damage.

Baylor retook the lead in the top of the fifth, as Shortridge led off the inning with a base hit to the pitcher and was sacrificed over on a bunt by Tiffany Wesley. Reagan stepped up and knocked a single to center to bring Shortridge around for the go ahead score. Morgan Craig pinch ran for Reagan and stole second to get into scoring position, allowing Turner to help her own cause with a double down the right field line, scoring Craig for a 3-1 lead.

The Lady Bears tacked on to their lead in the seventh as T. Wesley singled to right and advanced to second when the throw back in to the infield got away from the right fielder. Reagan laced another single to center for her second RBI of the game for a 4-1 advantage. Turner then hit a single down the left field line, moving Reagan to second and allowing Jordan Daniels to single to score Reagan for a 5-1 lead.

Turner was solid in relief, mowing down 12 of the 14 batters she faced to pick up her third win of the season. She pitched four innings, striking out six, giving up two hits and walking none.

Shortridge picked up the no decision after throwing three innings, giving up two hits, one run, four walks and four strikeouts.

Baylor will head to the USF Under Armour Invitational in Clearwater, Fla., beginning on Thursday against East Tennessee State at 1:30 p.m. CT before taking on the USA Olympic Team at 6 p.m. CT.
