Two solo home runs from Syracuse (9-6) were enough to kncok off No. 10 Baylor (14-5) Sunday morning on day three of the Citrus Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.

“We didn’t want this one bad enough,” head coach Glenn Moore said. “Liz Paul pitched a pretty good ballgame, but our offense didn’t support her the way she deserved. This team is better than we played the last two days, but we have to go out and prove it.”

Paul (2-2) threw 6.0 innings, allowing five hits, two runs, walking one and striking out three.

Megan Turk had two of the Lady Bears three hits and delivered the lone RBI.

Baylor threatened in the third with two outs, as Delaney Guy struck out but reached first on a passed ball. Guy then stole second and third and a Shelton walk and stolen base put a pair of runners in scoring position, but Redfearn flew out to center to end the threat.

Syracuse took the lead in the bottom half of the inning with a two-out solo home run to right from Veronica Grant for the 1-0 advantage.

Another solo shot in the fourthfrom Lacey Kohl to left field extended the Orange lead to 2-0.

Baylor got on the board in the sixth, as Shelton reached on a passed ball following a strikeout and came home to score on an RBI-double down the left field line from Turk. A wild pitch advanced Turk to third, but a sharply hit grounder to first from Holly Holl ended the inning for BU.

The Lady Bears will return to Waco for 15-straight home games beginning with a doubleheader against Louisiana Tech on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
