HONOLULU, Hawaii - Head coach Glenn Moore became the first coach in program history to record 500 wins with a 5-3 victory over No. 20 Hawaii (20-7) on day three of the Chevron Spring Fling in Honolulu. The No. 15 Lady Bears (25-4) outhit the Rainbow Wahine 11-3 and are 2-1 against ranked foes this season.

"It's a special accomplishment because of the players and coaches who have made it happen," Moore said. "I thought we executed very well tonight and I am really happy with this victory."

Whitney Canion (13-3) picked up her 81st career win and is one shy of tying Lisa Ferguson's program record of 82. The lefty allowed just three hits, three runs, all earned, two walks while striking out 11.

Robin Landrith had a career night, going 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Her three hits were a career best and the two runs and RBI tied career bests. Kaitlyn Thumann, Kathy Shelton and Kelsi Kettler each added two hits.

After stranding a pair of leadoff singles in the first, the Lady Bears put the first two on in the second with a leadoff single from Landrith and a walk from Holly Holl. Kettler grounded into a fielder's choice, but an errant throw to first got away and allowed Landrith to score from second for a 1-0 lead.

Baylor doubled its lead in the fourth when Landrith laced a triple down the right field line with two outs and came around to score on a single that hopped over the third baseman and into left for a 2-0 advantage.

Hawaii tied the ballgame with a two-run home run to center from Sharla Kleibenstein with one out in the bottom of the fourth.

The Lady Bears offense answered right back with three runs in the fifth, giving them a three-run cushion. With one out, Sarah Smith hit an RBI-single to center that scored Shelton, and following a sac bunt from Hosack, Landrith got RBI's two and three. The freshman laced a single to left center, making the game 5-2. Hawaii cut the BU lead to two with a solo homer by Leisha Li'ili' with two outs in the sixth.

Canion would go on to strike out the final four batters of the game for Moore's 500th.

Baylor earned the No. 2 seed for bracket play and will play 3-seed Hawaii at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday. The winner will be in the championship game set for 9 p.m. CT. All games can be heard on
