The Baylor softball team (17-7) used a perfect 3-for-3, two RBI performance from Tiffany Wesley to help guide the Lady Bears to a 5-3 win over UT Arlington (15-10) at Allen Saxe Field on Wednesday afternoon.

"I was very happy with our bench players stepping up today," head coach Glenn Moore said. "We showed some depth today against a hot team and pitched pretty well."

Courtney Repka (10-4) earned the win, going 5.0 innings, allowing just one hit, two earned runs, one walk and one strikeout. Alicia Vasquez came on in the fifth for two innings of relief, allowing three hits, one earned run and one strikeout.

T. Wesley was 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, a double and a home run, while Nicole Wesley and Kelsi Kettler each went 2-for-3.

UTA jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second when Rebecca Collom hit a two-run home run to left field, driving in Car Hulme, who walked.

Baylor answered in the third, as Kelsi Kettler led off with a single to left center and reached third on a fielder's choice, as a throw from shortstop to first went into right. A single from Tiffany Wesley scored Kettler, allowing KJ Freeland to advance to third and score when Nicole Wesley singled to right. With the Wesley's at the corners, Nicole stole second, forcing the throw, allowing Tiffany to score from third for a 3-2 lead.

The Lady Bears added another in the fifth, as T. Wesley led off the inning with a solo shot to right field, her second home run of the year.

The Mavericks cut the BU lead in half in the bottom of the fifth when Erica LeFlore hit a one-out homer to right center off Alicia Vasquez, who entered the game for Repka.

Baylor added an insurance run in the top of the seventh, as T. Wesley walked with two outs and stole second to reach scoring position, and came around to score on a shallow single to left by N. Wesley for a 5-3 advantage.

Baylor will be back in action on Thursday to face South Alabama at 6:00 p.m. at Getterman Stadium.
