The Baylor Lady Bears (17-7 overall, 0-1 Big 12) dropped its Big 12 opener, 7-0 against Texas A&M (29-6 overall, 1-0 Big 12) on Wednesday at the Aggie Softball Complex in College Station.
Texas A&M busted the game open in the first as Brittany Turner walked the first three batters to load the bases. Kirsten Shortridge came in to pitch and gave up back-to-back singles to make the score 3-0. The Aggies then scored its fourth run on a sac fly to center before a single brought in the fifth and final run of the inning.
The Lady Bears' best chance came in the second when Courtney Oberg led off with a single and a pair of sacrifice bunts moved her to third, but a groundout to second ended the threat.
The Aggies added another run in the fourth as Natalie Villarreal led off with a triple and was brought in to score on the next batter, who singled, to take a 6-0 lead.
Texas A&M scored its seventh run in the fifth as Alex Reynolds recorded her third hit, a double, to plate Glasco, who led off the inning with a double.
Turner (3-4) was credited with the loss after pitching to just three batters, giving up three walks and three earned runs. Shortridge pitched 3.2 innings, giving up five hits, three runs, one walk and two strikeouts. Isham pitched 2.1 innings giving up two hits, one earned run and walking one..
Baylor will return home for its conference home opener as it hosts Iowa State on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Getterman Stadium.
