The Baylor Lady Bears (18-9 overall) fell behind 3-0 and could not recover, falling to Texas State (21-11 overall) 5-2 at Getterman Stadium on Tuesday.
The Bobcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second, as Ryan Kos hit a two out double to right field with the bases loaded to put Texas State on top.
Baylor threatened in the bottom of the second as Courtney Oberg led off with a single to left and was pinch ran for by Morgan Craig. Jordan Daniels stepped up and bunted her way on as the throw went to second but was not in time to get Craig. With two on and no out, KJ Freeland popped up a bunt to third for an out, but Daniels and Craig were caught off first and second, and Texas State turned the triple play.
The Lady Bears got on the board in the third as Kirsten Shortridge hit a fly ball to left with two out and Weldon on second. The left fielder dropped the ball, allowing Weldon to score and bring Baylor to within two.
Down 4-1 in the fifth after a Bobcat home run, Oberg laced a single passed the second baseman, scoring Nicole Wesley and bringing the Lady Bears' deficit back to two.
The Bobcats added another insurance run in the seventh, and Baylor went down in order in the bottom half of the inning.
