Box Score

AUSTIN, Texas - Courtney Oberg's two-run home run in the top of the sixth gave Baylor (30-15, 6-3) a two-run lead it would not relinquish, as the Lady Bears defeated No. 20 Texas (31-12, 7-2) 3-2 Wednesday night at McCombs Field in Austin. It marked the fourth win over a ranked opponent this season for BU.

Baylor was able to get out of a pair of bases loaded jams, allowing just one run to cross the plate.

Whitney Canion (18-11) threw her 23rd complete game of the season, allowing seven hits, two runs, five walks and eight strikeouts in the victory. The lefty has collected each victory for the Lady Bears in Big 12 play this season.

Brette Reagan collected her first hit since returning from her injury, going 1-for-3 on the day.

In the top of the sixth, Reagan singled through the left side and moved to second on a groundout from Alex Colyer. That set the stage for Oberg's blast to left, her team-tying fifth of the season, giving Baylor the 3-1 lead.

Texas answered with a solo shot by Loryn Johnson to lead off the bottom half of the sixth to cut the Lady Bear lead in half.

With a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh, two walks and an intentional walk with two outs loaded the bases for Texas, but Canion got Nadia Taylor to pop up to Colyer at first to seal the win.

Texas got on board in the second with an RBI-single by Courtney Craig that scored Lauren Johnson from third. With the bases loaded and no outs, Canion got back-to-back strikeouts and a lineout to third to strand three Longhorns.

Baylor answered in the top of the third, as Megan Turk led off with a single and was sacrificed over by Meagan Weldon, setting up Tiffany Wesley for an RBI-double to left to tie the game at one apiece.

Brittany Barnhill (19-7) took the loss, allowing five hits, three runs and striking out just one in 7.0 innings of work.

Baylor will remain on the road to take on Iowa State beginning on Friday at 2:00 p.m. and wrapping up at noon on Saturday.
