WACO - The No. 23 Baylor softball team (23-15) split a doubleheader with Oklahoma Christian (20-21) Monday afternoon at Getterman Stadium. The Lady Bears finished off the Eagles, 9-1 in six innings in game one, but fell 4-0 in game two.

Game One
Baylor jumped out to an early two-run lead in thanks to back-to-back singles by Tiffany and Nicole Wesley. A wild pitch put both in scoring position, and Courtney Nieten delivered an RBI-groundout to score T. Wesley. N. Wesley then scored on another wild pitch for a 2-0 advantage.

The Lady Bears added another in the second, as Kayce Walker singled, stole second and advanced to third when the pitch got by the catcher. That allowed Megan Turk to deliver an RBI-single to right for a 3-0 lead.

OCU added a run in the third on an RBI-single from Michelle Miller, however, no Eagles player would reach base the rest of the way as BU starter Alicia Vasquez retired the next 11 batters.

Baylor put up five more runs in the fifth beginning when T. Wesley doubled to right center to score Sydney Wilson. A wild pitch brought KJ Freeland home, Nieten delivered another RBI with a single to short for the third run of the inning. Bree Hanafin added an RBI on a sac fly to right that scored N. Wesley, and pinch runner Mallory Craig came around on a single to short from Walker for the 8-1 lead.

BU polished off the game in the sixth when T. Wesley ripped her second double of the game to the right field fence, scoring Sydney Wilson and ending the game at 9-1.

Vasquez (3-2) got the win, allowing just three hits, one earned run, walking one and striking out one in 6.0 innings.

T. Wesley went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Walker and Wilson each registered two hits.

Game Two
Baylor stranded seven runners and didn't pick up its first hit until the fifth inning en route to a 4-0 defeat.

Courtney McFarlin (0-1) made her debut, going 5.1 innings, allowing seven hits, three runs, no earned runs and walking two.

Kathy Shelton picked up her sixth multi-hit game of the season, registering two of the team's five hits.

The game was scoreless until the fifth when the Eagles scored three runs. With one out and runners at first and second, Christin Dobbs singled to shortstop, but Leal tried to pickoff the runner at third and the throw sailed wide, allowing the runner to head home. DaVee Croy came up with two outs and singled to short, beating the throw to first allowing the runner at third to score, however, during the play, Lauren Walk also snuck across the play from second to make it 3-0.

The Lady Bears had a chance in the sixth with back-to-back singles from Wilson and N. Wesley. Walker then hit into a fielder's choice, putting runners at the corners, but on the next pitch, stole second to reach scoring position. But a groundout and a fly out ended the threat, keeping BU scoreless.

OCU added another run in the seventh, as Walk scored on a wild pitch by Baylor reliever, Alicia Vasquez for a 4-0 lead.

Baylor led off the seventh with back-to-back singles from Megan Turk and Shelton, and with one out, Shelton and pinch runner, Mallory Craig pulled off a double steal. KJ Freeland came in to pinch hit and drew four-straight balls to load the bases. That was as far as any Lady Bears runners would get, as the next two batters flew out to center to end the game.

Baylor will hit the road on Wednesday to take on No. 16 Texas beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Austin.
