WACO, Texas - The No. 14 Baylor softball team (35-8) posted its 12th shutout of the year, defeating UTSA (22-23) 5-0 on Wednesday night at Getterman Stadium. Baylor's 11 hits marked the third-straight game with 10 or more hits.

"We got the win, and that is what matters," head coach Glenn Moore said. "We let the leadoff batter reach way too much and you can't afford to do that. We have to refocus and get ready for a big conference series this weekend."

Liz Paul had a career high three hits, while Megan Turk and Kathy Shelton each recorded two apiece. Dani Leal added her 13th home run of the year, tying her for sixth on the Baylor single-season home run list and sixth all-time.

Courtney Repka (9-2) picked up the win, coming on in relief to throw the final 3.2 innings, allowing two hits, three walks and two strikeouts. Paul started the game, going 3.1 innings, giving up three hits, walking three and striking out two.

The Lady Bears got on the board first in the third inning on an RBI-single from Turk to left center that scored Shelton from second for the 1-0 lead.

Back-to-back singles from KJ Freeland and Paul led off the fourth, and Freeland advanced to third on a fly out to right center. That allowed Sydney Wilson to lay down a bunt-single to score Freeland for the 2-0 lead.

Leal blasted Baylor to a 5-0 lead in the fifth on a three-run shot to right center. Kayce Walker led off the inning with a walk and advanced to second on a single up the middle by Turk to put two aboard.

The Roadrunners loaded the bases in the seventh with one out, but a grounder to Leal at short was flipped to Meagan Weldon at second and over to Holly Holl at first for the 16th double play of the season, ending the game.

Shelton's two stolen bases on the night ties her for seventh on the single-season list with 26.

The Lady Bears will host a top-20 match up with No. 20 Oklahoma State (34-11) beginning on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and wrapping up Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
