#11 BAYLOR 5, #6 GEORGIA 1
MAY 28, 2011 • ATTENDANCE: 1,579

 Head Coach Glenn Moore
Opening Statement:
"I'm proud of our girls for coming into a hostile environment, maybe the toughest we've seen all year. The first pitch leaves the park and they had every opportunity to buckle under the pressure. The fact that we've played in other tough venues allowed us to keep our composure. We gave ourselves time to adjust. We are facing a good team, but we have some weapons in our arsenal as well and knew if we could keep it close we could make a ballgame out of it."

On his team's offensive performance:
"We've done our share of scouting [Georgia pitcher Morgan] Montemayor pitch and I think she was better tonight than we expected. She was throwing hard and threw her changeup more than we had seen. But we kind of get the short end of the stick when it comes to offense because we've been able to score runs all year. We don't blow teams away or hit a ton of long balls, but hitting is contagious with this team. I think that the fact that we're so unassuming offensively is why we slip up on some teams and beat them."

 Sophomore Pitcher Whitney Canion
On surrendering a first pitch homerun:
"Not the ideal way to start the game by giving up a bomb, but we held in there against the adversity. I was just trying to throw a good pitch there and obviously it was a little too good. I didn't want to look where the ball went because I knew it was gone as soon as it left the bat. At first, I was frustrated but this has happened before and we've fought back. This team is not going to give up."

On her solo homerun in the 5th inning:
"I had seen some good pitches in the first at-bat and knew if she threw one inside I was going after it. Coach was telling me that I didn't have to swing out of my shoes because the speed was going to carry it over. I just had a nice smooth swing like I'm supposed to."

 Junior Outfielder Kayce Walker
On the post-season environment:
"I'm just excited to be here because this is my first post-season. This atmosphere is just awesome. We thought going to Texas and Arizona was bad, but it is nothing compared to the atmosphere that Georgia has. It's a really fun place to play.

On contagious hitting:
"It seems like when one person gets a hit it just keeps going from there. It builds with each girl because you think `if she can do it so can I.' Everyone is so confident up there and we just keep building that confidence. We're going to score eventually we just have to keep working for it."

 Head Coach Lu Harris-Champer
Opening Statement:
"I thought the beginning of the game was very exciting. [Megan] Wiggins took an amazing cut on the first pitch of the game and had good things happen from it. Overall, I think we can put the ball in play more and I think we'll do that stronger tomorrow. Baylor played a good game and made good adjustments. [Whitney] Canion pitched a great game."

On the mindset of her team after this loss:
"We've lost games this season and we'll come out tomorrow and be resilient."

 Senior Outfielder Megan Wiggins
On the game:
"Baylor is a great ballclub and no one can say anything other than that. This is postseason and these are the games that you play for. I think the only thing we can do is be resilient tomorrow and just come out fighting for 14 innings and be ready to compete."

On Baylor pitcher Whitney Canion:
"Whitney Canion is a great pitcher. You saw that tonight and all of their season. We just have to come out tomorrow and just make minor adjustments on our end and expect her to pitch another great game like she did tonight."

 Freshman Pitcher Morgan Montemayor
On the game:
"I think we came out hard. Baylor is an awesome ballclub and they fought hard too. We just need to come out even harder than we were today, harder than they were today and that's how we're going to win."
