WACO, Texas - When East Carolina's travel plans were canceled due to inclement weather, Baylor (4-1) was scrambling to shuffle the annual Getterman Classic softball tournament schedule from six teams to five. However, No. 14/18-ranked Missouri needed to find games this weekend, and Baylor answered the call replacing ECU with the Tigers.
Missouri (0-0), out of the SEC, was originally slated to play in Jacksonville's tournament, but the tournament was canceled, and the Tigers found a home for the weekend in Waco.
No. 16/18-ranked Baylor now welcomes Drake (0-4), Lipscomb (4-0), UAB (1-3), and Iowa (2-2) along with Tigers Friday through Sunday. The addition of Missouri dramatically increases the RPI for all teams in the tournament, and the Tigers are ranked two spots ahead of Baylor in the NFCA Top 25 at No. 14 and two spots behind the Bears in the USA Softball Top 25 poll at No. 18.
Baylor will take on UAB and Drake at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively Friday; the Bears take on Lipscomb and Iowa Saturday at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively before closing out Sunday at 11 a.m. with Missouri.
