WACO, Texas --- The No. 16 Baylor softball team returns to action this week as the Lady Bears host Stephen F. Austin for a doubleheader at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Getterman Stadium. Baylor and Stephen F. Austin have already faced each other once this season with the Lady Bears claiming a 9-3 victory over the Ladyjacks at the Getterman Classic on Feb. 10.
Baylor enters the contest with a record of 15-4 after going 3-2 this past weekend at the NFCA Leadoff Classic. Ashley Monceaux paces the Lady Bears attack, leading the Big 12 Conference with a .547 average, seven home runs and 25 RBI.
Kirsten Shortridge leads the way for Baylor in the circle, posting a perfect 6-0 record on the year with a 1.84 ERA in 53.1 innings of work while senior Lisa Ferguson has recorded a 6-3 record with a 2.14 ERA in 49.0 innings of work this season.
Stephen F. Austin enters the mid-week doubleheader looking to snap an eight-game skid as the Ladyjacks recently went 0-4 at the Tulsa Invitational in Tulsa, Okla., this past weekend and enter with an overall record of 3-10.
Jessica Tullos leads the way for Stephen F. Austin, posting a .400 average on the year and leading the team with five doubles and 11 RBI.
In the circle, the Ladyjacks are paced by Kari Hugie, who has posted a 1-3 record and 4.34 ERA in 29.0 innings of work. Ashley Wilburn has also seen significant time in the circle, recording a record of 2-5 and 7.42 ERA in 33.0 innings of action.
After the Baylor victory earlier this season, the Lady Bears own a 27-18 edge in the series and have won 12-of-13 against Stephen F. Austin.
