No. 15 Softball Hosts Florida International

The No. 15 Baylor softball team (24-4) will play its first game in eight days, playing host to Florida International (15-12) on Thursday in a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Getterman Stadium.

"It was great to have some time off, but we need to get back to work," head coach Glenn Moore said. "FIU a team that won a couple games in the NCAA Tournament last year and we know they have a talented team, so we need to be at our best."

The pair of games will mark the first meeting between the two schools.

The Lady Bears are off to their best start in school history and are coming off a split at North Texas on March 16. Holly Holl, on a seven-game hitting streak, leads the team with a .373 average, while Dani Leal has seven home runs, 17 RBI and a .368 average. Whitney Canion is second in the Big 12 with a 0.70 ERA to go with a 12-3 record. The sophomore leads a staff that ranks second in the Big 12 with a 1.18 ERA.

FIU enters the contest on a four-game winning streak after sweeping Middle Tennessee State last weekend. Ashley McClain leads the team with a .405 average, nine doubles, five home runs and 25 RBI. She is also stellar in the circle with a 5-2 record and a 2.33 ERA. Mariah Dawson heads the Golden Panther staff with 75 strikeouts to go with five wins.
