WACO, Texas - The No. 12 Baylor Bear (23-5) softball team will look to rebound Tuesday at Sam Houston State (14-16) as the two teams will play a doubleheader at 4 p.m. Baylor is coming off a 4-1 loss to Texas, which opened Big 12 play before the second game of the series was postponed due to inclement weather Sunday.
Despite the setback, the NCAA's RPI rankings came out Monday giving the Lady Bears good news as BU ranked No. 10. The Ratings Percentage Index is a formula that combines winning percentage, opponents' winning percentage and opponents' opponents' winning percentage.
Baylor's No. 10 ranking is the highest in the Big 12 with Oklahoma next at No. 23 and Texas at No. 31.
The Lady Bears will take on the Bearkats and have won 31 of the last 33 meetings between the two schools. However, Sam Houston did split the series last season with Baylor taking a 2-0 win Feb. 22, but the Bearkats won the Feb. 9 meeting, 2-0.
Baylor will take its Big 12-leading 1.40 team ERA to Huntsville while the Bearkats have struggled in the circle with a 4.13 team ERA.
