WACO, Texas – The No. 12 Baylor (24-6, 0-1) softball team hits the road to Lubbock to take on Texas Tech (27-9, 0-0) in a three-game series from Friday to Sunday. For the Red Raiders, it will be the first Big 12 games of the season for TTU.
The teams will square off Friday night at 7 p.m., Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at Noon to close the series. All games will be played at Texas Tech’s Rocky Johnson Field.
Baylor is coming off a split with Sam Houston State Tuesday and a loss to Texas in the Big 12 opener Saturday. The loss to the Longhorns followed by a game one loss to the Bearkats marked the first time this season that Baylor had recorded back-to-back losses.
The Lady Bears hit just .205 over a three-game stretch that included a 2-0 loss to Texas State March 18, a 4-1 loss to the Longhorns Saturday and a 4-3, 10-inning marathon loss to Sam Houston State. However, Baylor got the bats going again with 12 runs on 12 hits in BU’s shutout of SHSU Tuesday in the nightcap.
Overall Baylor is hitting .322 as a team headed into the series while Texas Tech is hitting .318 and averaging 6.6 runs per contest. The Lady Bears hold the edge in the pitching circle with a Big 12-best team ERA of 1.44 compared to Tech’s 2.12 mark.
