The Baylor softball team (22-15, 4-7 Big 12) will host the Texas tech Red Raiders (15-32, 3-9 Big 12) for a pair of conference games beginning on Saturday at 2 p.m. and ending on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Baylor sits in seventh in the Big 12, while the Red Raiders are ninth.

The Lady Bears are coming off split with No. 9 Houston on Wednesday in Houston. After falling 8-3 in the opener, BU came out blasting for a 7-3 win in game two.

The Red Raiders enter the contest after going 2-1 on the week, with a pair of wins over UTSA on Tuesday and a 10-1 loss at Texas on Thursday.

Baylor has won seven of the last eight and 11 of the last 13 meetings between the two schools. Texas Tech stunned the Lady Bears in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament last season, knocking off the No. 1 seed 8-4.

Tune in for live play-by-play on baylorbears.com as Derek Smith and Chelsi Lake bring you all the action.

Scouting Texas Tech
The Red Raiders enter the contest after going 2-1 on the week, with a pair of wins over UTSA on Tuesday and a 10-1 loss at Texas on Thursday.
Sophomore Leah Legler leads the team in batting average (.333) and stolen bases (12). Junior Montana Patin provides the power, with a .305 batting average, six home runs and 34 RBI. As a team, Texas Tech is hitting .243 overall and .200 in conference play
In the circle, the Red Raiders are led by sophomore Ashly Jacobs, who is 7-13 overall with a 2.37 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 145 innings. Jacobs won Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on April 8 after pitching the Red Raiders to a sweep of Nebraska the weekend before. Tech has a team ERA of 3.60 overall and 4.55 in conference.

Lady Bears Have Recent Success Against Red raiders
Baylor has won seven of the last eight and 11 of the last 13 meetings between the two schools. Texas Tech stunned the Lady Bears in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament last season, knocking off the No. 1 seed 8-4.

Round Trippers Rare
Baylor has just 15 home runs on the year, tied for second lowest in the Big 12. Brette Reagan's home run on Wednesday against Houston was just the second by a Lady Bear since March 9. That equates to just two home runs in the last 425 at bats.

Oh Boy! Oberg!
Sophomore Courtney Oberg struggled at the plate to start the season, but has picked it up since conference play began. Prior to the start of conference play, Oberg was batting just .231 (15-for-65), but now the College Station native is hitting .313 (13-for-41) in the last month with three doubles and seven RBI.

Reagan Climbs Home Run Ladder
Junior Brette Reagan's home run at Houston on Wednesday gave her 28 in her career, tying her for third all-time in school history with Ashley Monceaux. She needs 10 more to reach Kelly Osburn with 38.

Too Many Two Out Runs
Baylor's pitching staff has given up 133 runs heading into this weekend, but 50 of them (38 percent) have come with two outs. That averages to 1.35 extra runs a game coming with two outs on the board.

Finally!
Baylor had gone 35.1 straight innings without holding a lead in a ballgame until the top of the sixth in an April 2nd game against Texas, when Meagan Weldon hit a sac fly to right to score Oberg and give BU a 2-1 advantage.

Buck The Trend

The Lady Bears' come from behind win on April 2 against Texas was just their second of the season when trailing after six innings. The other happened on March 8 against Illinois-Chicago when Baylor scored three in the seventh to win 7-6.

Lady Bears Lead Big 12 Offense
Baylor's .316 team batting average still leads the Big 12 by .14 points, with Texas A&M in second with a .302 avg. The Lady Bears have four of the top 20 individual batting averages in the Big 12. Brette Reagan (.394) is fourth, Kirsten Shortridge (.388) is sixth, Jordan Daniels (.367) is 11th and Nicole Wesley (.344) is 16th. No other conference foe has as many players in the top 20.

Stealing This Much Should Be Criminal
The 2008 Lady Bears are continuing their reputation of speed on the basepaths, stealing 78 bases in their first 37 games. That mark is second in the conference behind Missouri, who has played 14 more games. Last season Baylor had 90 stolen bases through 37 games.
The Baylor team record for most stolen bases in a season is 155, set by the 2005 team, which had 100 stolen bases in its first 37 games.

Near No-Hitters
On March 2 against Louisiana-Monroe, freshman Shaina Brock found herself one out away from a no-hitter. A comebacker to the circle that would have been the third out was bobbled by Brock allowing another batter to come to the plate. She doubled down the left field line, ending the no-no, however Brock got the next batter out, recording the 19th one-hitter is Baylor softball history.
Kirsten Shortridge also had a near no-hitter on April 13 at Nebraska. Her one hit allowed was a fly ball down the left field line that Tiffany Wesley had to chase down and see go in and out of her glove

Rain, Rain, Go Away
The weather has been just another foe that they Lady Bears have had to focus on this season. Baylor has had seven games cancelled due to weather, and one postponed. Included in those rainouts were two games at the Baylor's Getterman Classic, a doubleheader at home against Oklahoma Christian and a game against Team USA that was scheduled for March 6.
