AMES, Iowa – The No. 17 Baylor (38-12, 9-4 Big 12) travels to Iowa State this weekend for a three-game series with the Cyclones (22-25-1, 2-10 Big 12) as the regular season winds down. The teams will play Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m.
Iowa State, despite a .325 batting average, has struggled this season vs. Big 12 competition allowing 10.4 runs per league contest, and the Cyclones have managed just two Big 12 wins.
Baylor will test its league-best pitching ERA against the Cyclones with the Bears holding a 1.51 team ERA and boasting the top three individual ERA’s in the conference.
Senior Whitney Canion is the Big 12’s leader with a 1.37 ERA, while sophomore Heather Stearns is second at a 1.53 mark and senior Liz Paul is third at 1.98.
Baylor has won its last seven matchups with Iowa State, but will have to contend with Brittany Gomez and Rachel Hartman, who boast the leagues fifth and 10th best batting averages at .405 and .375 respectively.
ISU last beat Baylor April 30, 2011 in Ames, the last season that Baylor went to the Women’s College World Series.
