The trio enters the weekend with a 145-81 (.622) record throughout their career, including two Regional championships, one Super Regional title and one WCWS appearance.
FRESHMEN STEPPING UP IN CONFERNCE PLAY
Baylor has relied heavily on its freshmen to knock in runs during Big 12 play. Sarah Crockett (7), Jordan Strickland (6) and Kaitlynn Thumann (5) have accounted for 18 of the team's 39 RBI in conference. The trio have accounted for 46 percent of the RBI's despite making just 20 percent of the team's at bats.
HITTING HOT LAST SEVEN GAMES
Baylor's offense has been heating up over the last six games, as the Lady Bears have hit .295 since switching to its current lineup for Kathy Shelton at second and Thumann in right. Four BU players are hitting over .300 (Thumann - .545, Holly Holl - .476, Jordan Strickland - .350 and Clare Hosack - .333).
THUMANN SPARKS OFFENSE
Thumann entered the starting lineup as a regular in right field on Saturday, April 21 at Texas Tech and has sparked the offense ever since. Since that time, the freshman is hitting .545 with one home run, five runs and five RBI.
Baylor is 24-4 in games it scores first, and 6-16 when the opponent does. When the Lady Bears hold a lead after six innings, they are a perfect 25-0.
The Lady Bears have two of the top seven base stealers in program history on the 2012 squad. Senior Kayce Walker enters the weekend tied for fourth all-time with 80, while Shelton tied for fifth with 72.
As a team, BU is second in the Big 12 with 74 stolen bases behind Texas' 82.
Baylor is 5-12 against ranked foes this season. The Lady Bears knocked off then No. 18 Oregon (2-1) and No. 24 North Carolina (2-0) in the same day (3/2) before a 1-0 win over then No. 7 Oklahoma (3/25). The Lady Bears are coming off two last week, a 5-4 extra-inning win over No. 5 Texas (4/18) and an 8-4 victory at No. 24 Texas Tech (4/22).
HOMERS AWAY FROM HOME
Baylor plays in one of the toughest home run parks in the country, and this proves it. In Big 12 games since 2007 the Lady Bears have hit 46 of their 63 home runs (73 percent) away from Getterman Stadium.
SHELTON LEADS THE WAY
Kathy Shelton has been the leader on and off the field for BU this season. The junior leads the team in runs (34), hits (50), on-base percentage (.427) and stolen bases (22). She ranks second in the Big 12 with her 22 steals.
