WACO, Texas - The No. 17-ranked Baylor (42-12, 13-4) softball team will conclude the regular season Sunday with a busy day, playing Texas (32-21, 11-6) in Austin at 1 p.m. and driving back for the NCAA selection show party in Waco at 8 p.m.

Baylor and Texas have split games with Texas winning in Waco 4-1 March 22 before the Lady Bears took a 2-1 win in Waco Tuesday night. The split sets up the rubber match in Austin Sunday at McCombs Field. Other than taking the series vs. Texas for the first time since 2011, Baylor has already secured second place in the Big 12 standings, which is the second-highest finish for the program in history behind the 2007 title team.

With the NCAA Tournament selection show airing on ESPNU at 9 p.m., Baylor's fate to play host to the first round will likely be sealed regardless of Sunday's outcome with the Longhorns. In the final NCAA RPI released Monday, Baylor ranked No. 12. The RPI is not an end-all for the selection committee, which chooses 16 schools to host three additional teams, but Baylor's win Tuesday increased already likely chances.

After the conclusion of the game in Austin Sunday, Baylor will play host to a "Watch Party" at 8 p.m. in the Stone Room located within the Ferrell Center on BU's campus. The event is open to the media and the public where refreshments will be served leading up to the 9 p.m. start on ESPNU. Baylor last played host to a regional tournament in 2009.

Whitney Canion outdueled Tiarra Davis Tuesday night in the pitcher's circle after the reverse resulted March 22. It is likely that the final game of the series will slate Baylor's senior lefthander against Texas' freshman again for the final game of the series.
