WACO, Texas - Fans planning to attend the opening round of the NCAA Softball Tournament in Waco at Getterman Stadium this weekend are encouraged to arrive early as a result of Baylor University's commencement ceremonies.
Baylor will be playing host to Northwestern State (La.), Tulsa and Houston Friday through Sunday in a double-elimination tournament that will determine who advances to the NCAA Super Regional Round May 23-25.
Friday, Tulsa and Houston will play at 4:30 p.m. followed by Baylor and Northwestern State at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early due to limited parking because of the Baylor baseball team's series with TCU this weekend.
In addition to baseball coinciding, Saturday's softball regional is slated for three games, but just across the parking lot, Baylor University will have its spring semester graduation ceremony at the Ferrell Center, which will overwhelm parking opportunities.
For this reason, fans are encouraged to use the East Campus Parking Garage located at the corner of Daughtrey Avenue and South 2nd Street (map). Shuttles will be available to take fans before and after games scheduled at Getterman Stadium.
Fans unable to attend the NCAA Softball Regional will be able to view free audio / video broadcasts of all games throughout the weekend here: http://www.baylorbears.com/sports/w-softbl/spec-rel/bay-ncaa-softbl-14.html.
Tickets are still available by purchasing day passes or all-tournament passes. All-Tournament chair-back seats are available for $36 or single-day passes can be purchased at $10 apiece per day or $7 per day for students. Fans are encouraged to visit BaylorBears.com (link) and click tickets to get them in advance to avoid lengthy lines for tickets. For any questions regarding tickets, contact the Baylor Ticket Office at 254-710-1000.
For groups of 10 or more a discount is available at $3 apiece; interested parties should contact Michael Barry at the Baylor Athletics Marketing Office at 254-710-3461.
Saturday's games are scheduled for Noon, 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. and championship day Sunday begins at 1 p.m. with an if-necessary game at 3:30 p.m.
