WACO, Texas --- The No. 7 Baylor softball team placed three players on the NFCA All-Midwest Region squad the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Thursday. Ashley Monceaux earned first-team honors while Chelsi Lake and Brette Reagan were second-team selections.

Lake's selection to the squad marked the fourth time she has been selected to the all-region squad, making her the first player in school history to earn all-region honors in each of her four seasons. The senior catcher, a second-team selection, enters the NCAA Championship batting .294 with eight home runs and 41 RBI.

Monceaux has led the Baylor attack throughout the season as the senior first baseman picks up her first career all-region honor. The senior, first-team selection leads the Lady Bears heading into the NCAA Championship with a .399 batting average, 16 home runs and 60 RBI on the season.

Reagan rounds out the selections as the sophomore earns her second consecutive all-region selection. The third baseman, who did not commit an error in Big 12 Conference play this season, has been one of the hottest Lady Bears at the plate heading into the NCAA Championship as she enters this weekend with a .359 average with 10 home runs and 43 RBI.

Chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, the honorees will now be eligible for selection to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second or third teams.

The No. 7 Baylor softball team returns to action this week as the Lady Bears open play at the NCAA Hempstead Regional on Friday, May 18, at 11:00 a.m. against Albany at Hofstra Softball Stadium in Hempstead, New York.

The Lady Bears, the No. 8 overall seed at the NCAA Championship, enter the regional as the top-seed as Hofstra, champions of the Colonial Athletic Association, will serve as the host for the regional while Harvard, Ivy League champions, rounds out the four-team regional field.
