WACO, Texas - Baylor softball posted five student-athletes on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Central Region teams, announced Thursday by the organization.
Gia Rodoni (pitcher), Carlee Wallace (catcher), Kyla Walker (outfielder), and Jessie Scroggins (outfielder) were named to the first team, while Goose McGlaun (DP or Utility/Non-Pitcher) took home second team honors.
Rodoni earns her first All-Region selection, marking the sixth-straight season a Baylor pitcher has earned the honor. She is the first BU pitcher since Whitney Canion in 2014 to earn a first team bid.
Wallace was named to the All-Region ranks for the third-straight season with her previous two selections coming during her time at Auburn, taking second team in 2016 and first team in 2017. She is the first BU catcher since Chelsi Lake to be named among the region's best and the only BU first team catcher selection since Lake's 2006 honors.
Walker collected her third-straight All-Region selection, bumping up to first team for the first time in her career after taking second team honors the last two seasons.
Scroggins picked up her second-straight All-Region honors, jumping from third team in 2017 up to the first team in her senior season.
McGlaun earned her first All-Region selection, collecting the honors after seeing a significant bump in her offensive production from her freshman to her sophomore season.
Regional representatives meet the Monday before the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City to select the All-America first, second and third teams.
The 2018 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at approximately 4 p.m. CT on Wednesday, May 30, via NFCA.org.
Baylor faces McNeese on Friday, May 18, at 3:30 p.m. to kick off the NCAA College Station Regional, hosted at Davis Diamond by No. 14 seed Texas A&M.
