WACO - The Baylor softball team wrapped up the 2009 season with its highest ranking of the year and the third highest final ranking in program history, as the Lady Bears finished 15th in both the ESPN.com/USA Softball and USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Polls.
Baylor (40-22) was ranked as high as 24th during the season before taking the Waco Regional title and advancing to the Super Regionals for the fourth time in school history. The 40-win season was the fifth time in school history the Lady Bears have reached the plateau.
The Lady Bears' highest finish came in 2007 after a trip to the Women's College World Series, finishing fifth in each poll, while BU ended the the 2005 campaign with a ranking of 12th in the country.
Baylor was the second highest ranked Big 12 school, trailing only Missouri, who finished eighth in each poll.
