Players prepared for their mile long canoe trip down the Brazos River.

The Baylor softball team began the 2008-09 season on Saturday with the eighth annual Eco Challenge. The players were grouped in teams of three and timed throughout the length of the course, wearing costumes representing their team names.
The course began on a running trail along the Brazos River in Cameron Park. After their 2.2 mile run, the groups hopped into a canoe for a 1 mile trip down the Brazos, before embarking on a three mile bike ride back to the Student Life Center on the Baylor campus. Awaiting the teams was the rock wall, which each player had to climb up before they could continue on.
A short run to Getterman Stadium found the final test; archery. Each player had to hit the target before their team made the final sprint from center field to home.
"This is such a fun and great event that all of our parents and fans get involved in," head coach Glenn Moore said. "It's a good way to kick off our fall and I want to thank all of the volunteers who help make this happen."
The winning group consisted of senior Alex Colyer and freshmen Megan Turk and Sydney Wilson, who completed the course in one hour and 13 minutes.
