Baylor softball coach Glenn Moore announced the program's 2010 schedule Wednesday. The 55-game slate features 27 home games, 24 games against 15 teams that were selected to the 2009 NCAA Championship and six contests against 2009 Women's College World Series programs.
"This is another very tough schedule," head coach Glenn Moore said. "But once again it will prepare us for Big 12 play and give us a chance to position ourselves very well for the postseason."
For the second-straight season, the Lady Bears will begin on the road as they travel to Houston for the Marriott Houston Hobby Classic on Feb. 12-14. The field includes NCAA Championship representatives, Ohio State and Louisville in addition to Houston and Sam Houston State.
Baylor will return home for the QTI Getterman Classic on Feb. 19-21, as Baylor plays host to Central Arkansas, Tulsa (2009 NCAA Regional finalist), UTEP, UT Arlington and Wichita State.
Following a home doubleheader against Houston, the Lady Bears will head west for the Cathedral City Classic from Feb. 26-28. Baylor's schedule consists of four-straight contests against NCAA teams, as it opens with Utah, then faces San Diego State, Cal State Fullerton, UCLA and Arizona.
An eight-game road trip in early March will be the longest of the season, with the Lady Bears playing four games at New Mexico (March 5-6), a contest at UTSA (March 9), one at Texas State (March 10) and a pair at UT Arlington on March 16.
Baylor will welcome 2009 NCAA runner-up, Florida, for a three-game series starting with a doubleheader on March 20 at 2:00 p.m. and wrapping up the next day with a game at noon.
The Lady Bears will open conference play on the road at Oklahoma State on March 27-28, while a midweek game against Texas A&M opens the home portion of conference play on March 31.
Baylor will welcome conference foes Texas Tech (April 3 and 5), Kansas (April 10-11), Oklahoma (April 21), Iowa State (April 24-25) and Texas (May 6) to Getterman Stadium.
Additional Big 12 road contests include Texas (April 14), Nebraska (April 17), Texas A&M (April 28) and Missouri (May 1-2).
The Lady Bears open post-season play at the Big 12 Championships which runs May 14-16, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
