Full WNT Selection Camp Invitee List
WACO, Texas – Baylor softball All-American alumna and current volunteer assistant coach, Lindsey Cargill, was announced as one of 56 of the top softball athletes in the country to accept an invitation to the 2018 USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Camp, announced Wednesday afternoon by USA Softball.
“It’s a great honor to not only have the opportunity to represent my country, but also Baylor softball,” Cargill said. “I’m excited to compete with the best athletes in the nation and hopefully earn a spot on the USA roster.”
The Selection Camp will take place January 1-5, 2018 at Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Fla., with the invitees vying for a spot on the 2018 USA Softball Women’s National Team (WNT) roster, which will compete at the World Baseball Softball Confederation Women’s World Championship in Chiba, Japan, August 2-12, 2018, the World Cup of Softball XIII, and select invitational events.
The Robinson, Texas, native, closed her decorated time at Baylor with one of the most prolific seasons in program history, culminating in an All-America selection, All-Big 12, CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, and breaking the Baylor career hits and single-season batting average records, all while helping lead the squad back to the second Women’s College World Series in her career and the fourth for the program.
“Baylor fans have had four years of enjoying the passionate play of Lindsey,” said 18th-year Baylor softball head coach Glenn Moore. “It’s exciting to know the National Team Selection Committee has noticed her as well and are considering her as a member of Team USA. We wish her the best!”
During the selection process, athletes will participate in position drills as well as simulated games and be evaluated by the USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Committee (WNTSC).
