HONOLULU - Despite a lengthy rain delay, the 19th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team opened the season with a 6-1 victory over Hawai'i on Saturday at the Hawai'i Tennis Complex.
Baylor opened the match with a win in the doubles point as the 37th-ranked duo of Victoria Kisialeva and Blair Shankle took down Xenia Suworowa and Cindy Nguyen, 6-2, at the No. 1 position. Meanwhile, Kiah Generette and Alex Leatu beat Kelsey Daguio and Rebecca Faltusz, 6-1, at the No. 3 spot to claim the point.
Inclement weather in the area then forced a three-hour rain delay before the start of singles play. Baylor picked up right where it left on in doubles by earning victories in five of six singles matches.
The Lady Bears picked up singles wins from the 38th-ranked Generette, Kisialeva, Jordaan Sanford, Shankle and Leatu.
- Baylor is now 4-0 all-time vs. Hawai'i and 3-0 under Scrivano.
- The Lady Bears are 10-2 in season openers under Scrivano and have won 10 in a row.

Baylor will return to open its home slate on Jan. 18 with a doubleheader vs. Ohio State at 1 p.m. and vs. Texas Pan-American at 6:30 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.
