LA QUINTA, Calif. - Baylor freshman Ema Burgic wrapped up play with a consolation loss at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic in La Quinta, Calif.
Burgic took on her third straight opponent from the University of Texas at the tournament, but was unable to come away with a victory against the Longhorns' Elizabeth Begley. Burgic tied the first set at 5-5, but Begley was able to finish off the first set 7-5 and go on to a 6-2 win in the second.
"This weekend was good for Ema to get out on the court, and see where she is in her development," assistant coach Alison Ojeda said. "It's early in the season, but it was good to see her play aggressive tennis."
Baylor will be back in action as a team against Prairie View A&M on Friday, Jan. 20 at 3:30 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center. It marks the first of four home matches in six days for the Lady Bears.
